Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) is a collaborative inventory management system where the vendor, in this case Kolorcure, monitors and replenishes a customer’s supply of ink based on their rate of consumption. Implementing VMI streamlines the purchase to production process, while removing the stress of the customer needing to remember to order product before production is interrupted.
Kolorcure offers VMI through Clear Spider. Consumption is tracked on the user-end (the customer) by scanning out barcodes on the ink as it is used in production. Scanning is conveniently done through a mobile app which is easily installed on most mobile devices with cameras including phones and tablets.
